Sony and AU Optronics cooperate with OLED TV
Sony has been keeping a low profile in the field of OLED TVs after withdrawing 11-inch XEL-1 TVs from the market a few years ago. This year, Samsung and LG both took the 55-inch OLED TV to participate in the CES conference, and Sony only took a prototype of the LED crystal. But the company said that they are constantly developing OLED technology. If South Korea reports that Sony OLED technology is true, then Sony should not be far behind the OLED market.
ET News said that Sony has sent engineers to Taiwan AU Optronics (AUO) to investigate and negotiate business cooperation. With commercial cooperation, AUO already has six factories, and if possible, the partnership will expand it to eight jobs and grow in the big screen.
Chung Yoon-sung, NPD member of DisplaySearch in South Korea, said: "Sony and AUO's partnership in OLED has started last year. Sony has also entered Taiwan's manufacturing industry after Samsung and LG." This seems to be that Japan is aware of the yen exchange rate. Poorness will bring more cost to the company in terms of manufacturing costs. In addition, it also indicates that the company has to take a more focused approach to high-end products.
Another source said that LG yesterday announced that its 55-inch OLED TV is priced at 8,000 US dollars. In this field, South Korea's Displaysearch NPD member Chung Yoon-sung said: "Sony and AUO's partnership in OLED has started last year. Sony continues Samsung and LG have also entered Taiwan's manufacturing industry." This seems to indicate that Japan is aware that the poor exchange rate of the yen will bring more cost to the company's manufacturing costs. In addition, it also indicates that the company has to go further. Focus on the route of high-end products. The company has taken a step ahead of similar manufacturers in Japan.
