Open the Windows 10 installation ISO file, and we will find there are two setup.exe installers, one in the root directory and one in the sources folder (Figure 1). Some users do not understand this point. Whether it is a new installation system, adding dual systems, or upgrading the system, the setup.exe in the root directory is automatically run. This often causes problems in the system installation process. To completely install Windows 10 on your hard disk, one method is to boot the system through WinPE, unpack the Windows 10 installation image and execute the setup installation file in the sources folder. During this process, you can also choose to format the original disk partition, delete all files on it, and perform a fresh installation (pay attention to back up the useful files in this partition in advance). Another method is to execute setup.exe in the sources folder under an existing Windows system environment and install another new Windows 10 to form a dual system (or multiple systems). First of all, confirm whether to obtain the important update content of the installer online and pass the installation agreement (Figure 2). When you have the option of customizing or upgrading your installation, choose a custom installation (Figure 3). Next select the partition location where the system is installed, and select the partition with enough free space (Figure 4). If the target partition already contains Windows system files, the old system folder is renamed to the Windows.old folder and remains (Figure 5). hint: Executing the setup.exe program in the root directory of the Windows 10 installation file in the Windows environment supports only the upgrade installation and does not have the new installation function. This is why many users are often unable to complete a new installation of Windows 10. After the Windows installation process begins, users can complete the installation process simply by following the prompts or performing some simple time zone, language, and network selections. This process is more concise than the previous installation of the Windows version and does not need to be repeated. Tips: The key is not necessarily required during the installation of Windows 10. If the installation key is not on hand and you need a key during installation, you can skip it and enter it again when it is activated after installation.
