MagnetiMarelli Automotive Lighting developed the first full-LED headlight for the new Audi R8. This is the first time that the full LED series headlight concept has been implemented worldwide. All lighting functions, such as low beam, high beam, turn indicator lights, daytime running lights and position lights, can be fully realized by LED technology. Because the experts believe that the series production of low beam and high beam functions will not appear until 2008/2009, this "premature" product can be called a milestone in the development of headlamp technology.
LED technology has many advantages, the more obvious of which is that LEDs (light-emitting diodes) react 10 times faster than incandescent bulbs. And the LED taillights look extraordinarily beautiful, which has caught the attention of the public. However, the main lighting functions, low beam and high beam, are technically much more challenging. The biggest advantage of white LED lights is the color of the light – also known as the color temperature. The color temperature of the LED lamp is 6000K, which is almost equal to daylight. This enables the human eye to distinguish the road ahead with natural colors, and can effectively distinguish the difference between the colors. If the driver can see more clearly, it will improve driving comfort, so that driving will become much easier and no fatigue. LED technology is actually "to bring sunlight to the night."

The streamlined filaments of the daytime running lights form a converging bracket that outlines the overall shape of the headlights – a unique and shiny shape that makes it easy to see both day and night. This LED headlight goes beyond the design of the TT model and is an extension of its design in terms of styling.
