Where does the evolving Internet of Things turn?

The special major fire and explosion accident in Tianjin Port that occurred on August 12 has been locking people's attention for several days. This incident has made people realize that the storage of dangerous goods is a very important issue. At the same time, another important issue has surfaced, which is the transportation of dangerous goods.

"Dangerous goods transportation is also very dangerous. It is equivalent to a bomb running on the road. In the event of an accident, if it collides with other vehicles, it will cause leakage or other explosions in the local area."

On August 14, at the "Intelligent IoT Experience Sharing Session", Zhang Yu, Chief Technology Officer of the Intel China Internet of Things Division, told the reporter.

new start

Road vehicles for transporting dangerous chemicals, fireworks and firecrackers, civilian explosives, chartered vehicles for tourism, and class three or more class buses are collectively referred to as "two passengers and one danger." Zhang Yu told reporters that since 2010, the Ministry of Communications has begun to plan and establish a “two passengers and one risk” supervision network covering the whole country to monitor the operation status of such vehicles in real time. After several years of development, "One thing you can rest assured is that even if such a vehicle runs on the road, the government can know the location of the vehicle and the condition of the vehicle in time."

And doing this is closely related to the development of the Internet of Things. In cooperation with the Ministry of Communications, Intel has used Intel's quark chip technology to build an in-vehicle information terminal that meets the standards of the Ministry of Communications. Now, there are already in-vehicle devices based on Intel architecture certified by the Ministry of Communications; on the other hand, it is an optimization platform for optimizing the back-end. "Now the number of commercial vehicles in the country exceeds 10 million, and this regulatory platform can monitor more than two million vehicles, which can meet the current regulatory needs." Zhang Yu said.

Intelligent transportation results like this are just one of the gains from Intel's deep Internet of Things. From embedded to intelligent systems to the Internet of Things, Intel's IoT business has grown from scratch to the present, and has now penetrated into transportation, security, retail and energy industries. However, even so, in the case of Chen Wei, general manager of the Intel IoT Division in China, the concept of the Internet of Things, which had been proposed in 1999, is still in the evolving stage and has not really come to the fore. Moreover, as of today, many people still have many misunderstandings about the Internet of Things, such as simply understanding the Internet of Things as a sensor.

Chen Wei believes that "the Internet of Things is a variety of intelligent terminal devices, including sensors to high-end smart devices, interconnected through the Internet, generate data, and then extract the value required by end users through intelligent analysis. Provide a sustainable business model."

On the day of the Intelligent IoT Experience Sharing Session, the core team of the Intel IoT Business Unit made a debut to explain the development strategy of Intel's China Internet of Things business. Chen Wei said, "Intel's complete strategy is from the data center to PC, mobile devices, the Internet and the Internet of Things. The Internet of Things is a new starting point for Intel."

Intelligent direction

At this year's idf, Intel predicts that by 2020, there will be 50 billion devices interconnected worldwide. According to a report released by the McKinsey Global Research Center, the number of connected devices has increased by 300% in the past five years. It is expected that by 2025, the economic scale of various IoT applications may exceed 10 trillion US dollars. In Chen Wei's view, how many devices are not important, the important thing is that "the design and efficiency of manufacturing should make the price of smart terminal devices drop very low."

“Why have you talked for so many years, many Internet of Things applications have not really landed, but can be landed in the next 10 or 20 years?” Chen Wei believes that the main reason is that the cost is declining in both communication and front-end and back-end technologies. The speed is quite fast.

Chen Wei told reporters that compared with the present, the cost of sensors is twice that of the current ten years ago, the bandwidth cost is now 40 times, and the calculation cost is 60 times. “It is these falling costs that make today’s Internet of Things possible.”

Wang Donghua, senior marketing manager of embedded business in China's IoT division, believes that China's smart retail industry is at a "turning point." The founder of Intel and former Ceo Andy Grove defined the “turning point” as if the industry suffered a tenfold change in power and caused it to change tenfold, the industry was at a turning point. Wang Donghua believes that China's smart retail industry is now at such a node.

He told reporters that the current "post-80s" and "post-90s" have become the main consumers of the smart retail market, and they are more inclined to interactive experiences, so the entire market is evolving in the direction of interactive intelligence, and this is the future development trend. .

Zhang Yu also believes that in terms of intelligent transportation, in the future, drivers and passengers need more intelligence in the Internet of Vehicles. This intelligence is reflected in two aspects, one is the function of assisted driving, and the other is the further automatic driving function.

Intelligentization is also the future direction of the security and energy industry. When talking about the security market, Intel's segment marketing manager Shen Xin told reporters that "intelligence is increasingly demanding computing power. This is where chip makers add value or value to customers."

Large-scale deployment challenge

The Internet of Things can be applied to all walks of life, and different industries not only have different degrees of development, but also have different priorities in different regions. So how do you choose?

Zhang Yu told reporters that the reason why Intel chose transportation, energy, retail, security and other industries for key layout is the result of combining the characteristics of China.

"From now on, these four industries are actually relatively more mature. For example, security, China has far surpassed any country or region in the world in terms of geographical distribution, becoming the first in the security market." Zhang Yu Said, "However, compared with the huge foundation of the Internet of Vehicles, it will be much faster than the already mature industry from the subsequent development trend."

Although the industry is different, there are some similar challenges when deploying the Internet of Things on a large scale, such as security and privacy issues, fragmentation of vertical markets, and lack of interoperability and standards issues.

Take the fragmentation problem as an example. Chen Wei told reporters that in the global industrial deployment, 85% of existing systems are not connected, and data cannot be shared between each other or with the cloud. This is a reality that needs to be changed. “For example, unless the Chinese camera is produced by a company or has only one standard, it is difficult to match the information of different standard cameras produced by different manufacturers in one city and another.”

Chen Wei revealed that there is a slogan within Intel. "Any interconnected smart device, Intel's architecture will provide the best user experience." And their IoT strategy in China is, "industry application reference design and horizontalization." The platform architecture is at the core, uniting China's native ecosystem and promoting the local innovation practice of the Internet of Things."

Zhang Yu explained that different IoT applications actually have a lot of commonalities. In order to solve these common problems, Intel has adopted the practice of defining a reference platform to accelerate end-to-end implementation.

In different industries, such an end-to-end platform architecture has shown great advantages. Wang Donghua said that compared with Intel's IoT platform, Android and ARM's ecosystem is relatively fragmented, because arm has many manufacturers, and Android has many versions, Intel's IoT platform is relatively more stable. For this reason, with the development of the future market, Intel can provide more opportunities and choices for this market.

Laser Scanner

Laser radar contains LSPD safety laser scanner and LS laser radar. LSPD safety laser scanner is type 3 with CE certificate. It can be used for agv safety and industrial area protection. LS laser radar is for agv guide. Many famous agv manufacturers has installed LS laser radar to guide their agvs. Feedback from customers are quite posotive.
