2.2 Spartan-6 LX/LXT FPGA

The Spartan-6 LX platform is optimized for logic, DSP resources and memory modules to meet higher bandwidth and performance requirements with lower power consumption; while the Spartan-6 LXT is optimized for logic, DSP and storage resources, while providing Low-power 3.125Gbit/s serial transceiver enables high-speed serial interfaces such as PCI-e and SATA. Table 2-15 lists the Sparten-6 LX/LXT devices.

2.3 Summary

Spartan-6, the sixth generation of the Spartan series, is manufactured using 45nm technology, 9-layer metal wiring, and double-layer oxidation technology to achieve the perfect balance of low risk, low cost, low power consumption and high performance.

Through the introduction of this chapter, the reader can understand the internal structure of Spartan-6. Based on the Spartan architecture, Spartan-6 products have achieved many breakthroughs, combining many features of XILINX high-end devices, including high-efficiency dual-register 6-input LUT logic structure, DSP module chip, CMT clock management module, high-speed transceiver GTP, and PCI Express interface core, and embedded memory controller MCB module, which greatly reduces the design difficulty of FPGA and memory interface, using Spartan-6 can achieve true system integration.
