The technology of automatically adjusting the headlights after detecting the vehicle in front has been put into practical use. There is a method of individually controlling the LED elements of the headlights, and a method of physically shielding the front side of the lamp with a shutter. This product is suitable for the former method.
At the "8th International Automotive Electronics Technology Exhibition" (January 2016, Tokyo Ariake International Convention and Exhibition Center), ON Semiconductor's Japanese legal person exhibited a headlamp prototype using this product and adjustable illumination direction. The prototype headlamps control 12 LED components with a led control IC. Equipped with two such ICs, 24 LED components can be used.

The "smart" headlights will increase or decrease the voltage by turning on or off multiple LED components. Therefore, the prototype of ON Semiconductor is said to stabilize the voltage by using a high-output LED driver IC "NCV78763" which can evenly illuminate the LED elements. Imagine the detection of the opposite car and the front car, using the company's 1.2 megapixel CMOS image sensor "AR0132AT". The LED element to be controlled is determined by detecting the light in front.
