Royal Philips Electronics announced that it will acquire the street lighting control business of Amplex, Denmark, as part of its lighting electronics business. The transaction will be conducted during the quarter in accordance with the contract and other conditions, without revealing financial details. This is another move following the acquisition of US Teletrol Systems and Dynalite Australia last year. Philips said that Amplex's street lighting control business will further strengthen Philips' leading position in the global lighting market and support Philips' existing outdoor lighting business. To this end, Philips can provide basic energy management solutions to municipalities, road departments and utility companies. In addition, Philips can provide customers with the entire lighting system, saving one-third of the energy for municipal lighting, and saving three to 40% of the municipal lighting budget. Amplex's lighting control system is used to manage millions of street lights in different countries around the world. It is an automated management system that embeds intelligent monitoring and control functions in each street light cabinet and links them to the central street light management system.
