Xinhua News Agency quoted officials from relevant state departments on Tuesday as saying that the Golden Sun demonstration project will support the promotion and application of at least 640 MW of photovoltaic systems and grid-connected transmission technologies in the next two years. By 2020, the total installed photovoltaic capacity in China is expected to reach 20,000 megawatts.

Data show that China's installed capacity for photovoltaic power generation market is expected to be about 380 MW this year, accounting for 3% of the total installed capacity in the world, and the development is still very slow. The report pointed out that China has become the world's largest producer of solar cells, but the market is less active and less suited to the needs.
