Today, Qualcomm officially announced its next-generation processor, the Snapdragon 850, at a press conference held during COMPUTEX 2018 in Taipei.

It is reported that Xiaolong 850 uses the same 10nm technology as Xiaolong 845, which is currently the third 10nm technology SoC of Qualcomm (the first two models are 845 and 710). It is clocked at 2.95GHz and integrates the Snapdragon X20 LTE modem and Qualcomm's artificial intelligence engine AIE.

Qualcomm said that the Snapdragon 850 mobile computing platform can support many popular smartphone features in the PC. For example, keeping LTE or Wi-Fi always connected allows users to receive notifications while on the move and achieve near-always data synchronization.

Compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 835, the Snapdragon 850 with a 10nm architecture will support system-level performance improvements of up to 30%, while doubling AI performance, and supporting LTE connection rates up to 1.2Gbps. And for up to 25 hours of continuous use or under normal daily use scenarios, it supports continuous battery life for many days.

At the press conference, Qualcomm also announced that it will cooperate with Samsung to integrate the Snapdragon X20 LTE modem and the Snapdragon 850 mobile computing platform into Samsung's future PC products. Samsung also became the first OEM to adopt the next generation of Snapdragon 850 mobile computing platforms.
